Our Team

Hi. I’m Dr. Amy

Before becoming a veterinarian in 2019, I worked in pharmaceutical research and fostered many rescue animals. I’ve always had a soft spot for senior pets and those who need a little extra help. Caring for them made me want to do more, and it’s what led me back to school to become a veterinarian.

I founded Wildflower Mobile Veterinary as an independent, woman-owned practice serving Asheville and the surrounding communities. I wanted to build the kind of practice I’d want for my own animals, where families feel welcome, pets see the same veterinarian each time, and there’s room in the schedule to slow down. As a Fear Free Certified Veterinarian, I pay attention to what helps your pet feel safe. That might mean examining your dog on their favorite rug or giving your cat a few minutes to come say hello on their own terms.

You know your pet’s routines, their quirks, and the little changes that tell you something is off. I count on that knowledge. Whether we’re getting a new kitten off to a healthy start, managing a chronic illness, or talking through how to keep an old friend comfortable, we’ll make a plan together that fits your pet and your life

How does a house-call visit work?

Our two person team arrives with LOTS of treats (based on any preferences/ allergies). We set up where your pet is most comfortable, and allow time for slow introductions while we chat about their history and your visit goals. A low-stress exam is performed utilizing Fear-Free techniques, which emphasize gentle handling and positive reinforcement. We create a safe space for your pet (and you!), using a different approach from a typical in-clinic vet experience. We listen to your pet and respect their boundaries. Sometimes that means establishing care (and trust!) at an initial visit, and thoughtfully planning a follow-up visit to perform services that push them over their threshold. This may include the use of pre-visit calming medications in order to provide care designed with your pet’s physical AND emotional needs in mind.
